Our Beliefs

We believe Jesus is good news for a broken world.

We believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again for us to be free from our sins and give us eternal life.

When we turn from our sins and place our trust in what Jesus Christ has done for us, we begin to discover meaning and purpose in a broken world. We can then pursue God’s design in all areas of our lives.

The Scriptures

At First Baptist Perry, we believe the Bible is God’s word. It is entirely true, without any mixture of error, and contains everything the lost person needs to know to come to faith in Christ, and the Christian needs to know God and to live a life according to His design.

Statement of Faith

As a church, we affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as an accurate statement of biblical truth.

Doctrinal Summary

We believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God.

We believe in one God who exists eternally as three distinct persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son. In His incarnation, He took on human flesh, lived a sinless life, died for our upon the cross, and rose from the dead three days later.

We believe salvation is offered freely to all who repent of their sins and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ alone.

We believe the church is central to God’s plan for humanity. As individuals are saved, God adopts them into His family for encouragement, support, discipleship, and service.

We believe Jesus is coming back to judge the living and the dead. Everyone who has ever lived will stand before the Lord to account for their lives.

Partnerships

First Baptist Church is an autonomous church that partners with several like-minded organizations to advance the gospel and strengthen our church. Our primary partners are:

The Southern Baptist Convention: The SBC is a body of like-minded churches made up of over 50,000 churches and church-type missions that partner together to support international missionaries, plant churches, and train pastors. Through this partnership and our commitment to the Cooperative Program, the unified giving plan for Southern Baptist’s collective mission work, our church invests in the ministries of over 8,000 missionaries and church planters in North America and around the world. Additionally, the SBC supports six fully accredited seminaries to train future pastors, missionaries, educators, musicians, and counselors. One of the ways we partner with the SBC is through the Florida Baptist Convention.

We also participate in the Taylor Baptist Association, an association of churches that focuses primarily on mission efforts.
